What’s the best style of beer to enjoy when it’s -15 degrees outside and it’s so cold you can drive cars over rivers?
My vote (today at least) actually goes to one of my own beers – the fourth anniversary beer (cryptically named Four) from Beer Studio, which this time around is a Scottish Wee Heavy weighing in at 9.7% ABV.
The beer – which took over half a year to make – has the chiseled malt body of a Venice Beach bodybuilder, ripped as it is with toffee, treacle and dark fruits.
It’s sticky, sweet and, well, heavy, just as any robust Scottish strong ale should be. But hopefully not that heavy, I constantly reminded myself, as I drank it in the watery March sun standing on the cracking ice of the frozen Umeälven.
